Tanzania Wildlife Photographic Safari consideration should be given before travelling with any lens bigger than 400 mm as most interesting shots are taken using hand-held equipment. The new high-resolution digital cameras are outstanding and give great quality images. Highlights of this safari are the unusual Ngorongoro Crater, beautiful scenery, excellent predator action in particular Lion and Cheetah. You also have the opportunity to witness many thousands of Wildebeest and Zebra on the open grass plains of the Southern Serengeti, with their new borns. The chances of seeing births are very high.
Most photographers that come for African photo trips take wildlife photography as a profession but the good quality of today’s equipment makes excellent results possible for anyone. The choice of the correct camera equipment and film will determine the quality of your photographs. A good SLR camera with telephoto lens is necessary for good photography of birds and animals. A zoom lens can be extremely useful on photographic tours Africa and the minimum recommended size is 200mm. Most of your photos will probably be taken on an 80-200mm lens.
13 Days of quality pictures in Tanzania
Day 1: Arusha
On arrival to Kilimanjaro (or Arusha) Airport you will be met and transferred to The Arusha Hotel to meet the rest of the group. Welcome meeting about the trip followed by dinner.
Day 2 - 3: Ngorongoro Conservation Area
In the morning after breakfast, we then drive on very good tarmac roads to the famous Ngorongoro Crater, a true spectacle not to be missed. We stay 2 nights at a prime location; Sopa Lodge which is only 10 minutes from the entrance to the decent road into the Crater. This ancient collapsed volcano is truly a wonder to see. The crater floor is heavily populated with a variety of animals and the wall of the crater offers a dramatic backdrop for photography. We spend the entire day in the crater with a packed breakfast and lunch. We return to Sopa Lodge at the end of a full day of photography.
Day 4 - 8: Serengeti National Park {Central Serengeti}
After a good breakfast we depart on a 3.5 hr. road journey to the world famous Serengeti National Park. We arrive around midday and after checking in through the main gate we begin exploring the central Serengeti. At the end of another full day we arrive at our Tented Camp. Beautifully situated en-suite tents await you, along with a well deserved hot shower! Dinners are enjoyed in the dining tent whilst listening to the nocturnal sounds of the African bush. We spend a total of 4 nights in the central Serengeti exploring the varied landscapes, which include the Kopjes (granite outcrops of rock) these offer fantastic scenic shots and are a characteristic of the central Serengeti.
Day 9 – 12: Serengeti National Park {Southern Serengeti}
After 4 nights we head to the Southern Serengeti photographing along the way. We now enter a different landscape, open grassland! This is where the Wildebeest and Zebra gather in their thousands during the months of January and February. The grass is sweet, it is open and here they give birth to their offspring. Of course the predators are never too far behind and we spend the next 4 nights exploring this area which includes Lake Ndutu and Lake Masek. Our camp is located near Lake Ndutu and overlooks the Marsh. These are luxury tents with en-suite facilities and a communal area for recharging batteries.
13: Arusha – Kilimanjaro and/or your onward arrangements.
At the end of our last 4 nights we travel to the Ndutu Airstrip (20 minutes) from the camp and fly back to Kilimanjaro International Airport where we will be able to connect with our international flights.
5 Days / 4 Nights Lake Manyara/ Ngorongoro Crater/ Tarangire Park
Day 1: Arusha Town - Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast you are met by our tour guide/driver, who will deliver a short safari briefing. You will be driving to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive with our picnic lunch. Upon your arrival Manyara you will be welcomed by the Great Rift Valley Escarpment view and fun makers' baboon at the entrance of Manyara in large groups. We will travel through the agricultural and fresh produce market town of Mto Wa Mbu, which is situated next to the entrance of the Lake Manyara National Park. The town is a souvenir hunters paradise, harboring thousands souvenir salesmen - ready to pounce at your slightest invitation. The Lake Manyara National Park is one of Tanzania's most dramatically located African wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake (covering two-thirds of the park) at the foot of the Great Rift Valley's western escarpment. The park's varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals; including one of Africa's densely populated of herd of African elephant, famous tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos, attracted by the algae in the lake. We will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park and do two exciting morning and afternoon game drives, in search of the wildlife and birdlife that Manyara host along with a view of famous hot spring known as "Maji Moto". Late afternoon you will be transferred to Lake Manyara Hotel or Lake Manyara Serena lodge for hot shower, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park - Full Day
After breakfast you will meet your tour guide for morning game drive searching for the wildlife and birdlife that you didn't manage to see the previous day. In the afternoon you will have your hot lunch at the lodge and have a short rest before proceeding with the afternoon game drive. Later in the afternoon you will be driving to Ngorongoro Conservation Area for your preparation for descending to the Ngorongoro crater the next morning. You will therefore retire to the lodge upon your arrival for hot shower, dinner and overnight. Your accommodation will be either at Ngorongoro wildlife lodge or Ngorongoro Serena lodge.
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater - Full Day
In the morning after breakfast you will meet your driver guide and been transfer to the crater gate with your picnic lunch ready for a full day crater tour, explore the crater which is famous for its great concentration of wildlife and birdlife. This is probably the most enjoyable day as you can witness how wildlife wakes up and start their daily activities. If you're lucky enough you can see a predator hunting a prey or any adventure of your life time that Ngorongoro crater has for you. Ngorongoro crater is famous for its different attraction which includes alkaline lakes, forest, and different vegetation, hot springs, different kinds of wildlife and birdlife and its landscape. Among the common wildlife in the crater includes; lion, leopard, zebra, elephant, African buffalo, warthog, hyena, wild dogs, the rare black rhino, wildebeest and varieties of migratory and resident birdlife whereby more than 350 different species have been recorded. In the afternoon you will ascend the crater floor and been transferred to Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge / Ngorongoro Serena for hot shower, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Ngorongoro crater - Tarangire National Park
After breakfast you are met by our tour guide/driver, who will deliver a short safari briefing. After briefing you will be transferred to Tarangire National Park with your picnic lunch. Tarangire derived its name from the Tarangire River which crosses along the center of the park and which provide permanent water for the wildlife and birdlife of the park round the year. It is here where a large group of different species of animal concentrate during the dry season and the best place to take many pictures. Its natural vegetation mainly consists of Acacia woodland and giant African Baobab trees, with huge swamp areas in the south. The Tarangire National Park is reputed to contain some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. Also it is in Tarangire by chance you can see the tree climbing African pythons. Tarangire National Park accommodated migratory and resident birdlife and believed to be a paradise of birdwatchers as more that 350 different species have been recorded todate. Other wildlife that Tarangire accommodates includes the rare Oryx, impala, giraffe, zebra, lion, leopard and different types of gazelles. We will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park and do two exciting morning and afternoon game drives, along the Tarangire River. Late afternoon you will be transferred to Tarangire Safari Lodge or Tarangire Sopa Lodge for hot shower, dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Tarangire National Park - Arusha
After breakfast walking Safari at the parks boundary with your packed lunch, you will then drive back to Arusha as you are doing game drive to the Tarangire National Park and exit. You will reach Arusha late afternoon for preparation to be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight back home.

The Olduvai Gorge is a historical site of the world and has much history of the earliest human been and many more historical information that worth much to visit. You will have your picnic lunch on the way to Serengeti. Upon your arrival you will check in to the lodge for hot shower, dinner and overnight at Serengeti Sopa / Seronera Wildlife Lodge or Serengeti Serena.
Day 3: Serengeti National Park - Full Day
In the morning after breakfast you will meet your tour guide for starting a game drive to Serengeti National Park for a full day game drive. Serengeti is the largest national park in Tanzania covering more than 14,000 square kilometers. The park is having numerous numbers of unique features and attractions among them include: The annual great wildebeest migration (whereby wildebeest, zebra and gazelle migrates from Serengeti National Park to Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya and come back later in the year), the park is famous for its endless plains and the savannah vegetation that it owns, balloon safari and been the richest park full of wildlife and birdlife elsewhere in Africa. The park also supports many species of wildlife including Lion, African Leopard, African Elephant, cheetah, African Buffalo, Thomson's and Grant's gazelle, topi, eland, water buck, hyena, baboon, impala, African wild dog and giraffe. The park also boasts about 500 bird species, including ostrich, secretary bird, Kori bustard, crowned crane, marabou stork, martial eagle, lovebirds and many species of vultures. Your tour guide will therefore take you back late in the afternoon at your lodge for hot shower, dinner and overnight in the lodge been Serengeti Sopa / Seronera Wildlife Lodge or Serengeti Serena.

Maasai community is among the few remaining communities (tribes) in Tanzania that practice their culture of early human development. Not only that they are the warriors as most of them passes the Ngorongoro crater with their cattle without fearing the wild animals that crater floor has including the dangerous lions. In the afternoon you will drive back to Arusha passing again the Lake Manyara National Park and the famous Mto Wa Mbu village. We will be arriving at Arusha late afternoon and take you to your hotel or transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for flight back home.
